The stars shone bright that night, they were like tiny diamonds shining their divine grace on the earth. The crescent moon was floating through the vastness of the sky. 

Shri. Vethathiri Maharishi was resting in his room, in his meditative sleep. Swamiji’s senior disciple was sleeping in the next room. He heard some noise and came to see what was happening. In the darkness he saw the silhouette of a huge figure walking around the house looking for something. The figure was rapidly moving around looking for something. The gigantic man saw nothing of value there except a small clock. He quickly grabbed the clock and started running towards the door. He shouted and Maharishi woke up. He saw the thief and the thief also saw him. 

Swamiji, instead of shooting or creating noise, he just looked towards the thief and said “Vazhga Valamudan” (Be Blessed by the Divine), to the thief who was running towards the door. The thief heard this and turned around to look at the man who was saying something instead of screaming and calling out to people. 

People around who heard noises saw the thief running away and asked Swamiji why he did not try and stop him. Swamiji said, that object was not destined to be here and just let it go. 

A few days passed and the thief came back to see Swamiji. Everyone was surprised to see this and waited to watch what would happen next. The thief met Swamiji and returned the clock. 

He said he had never seen experienced blessing him when he was stealing, and this kept bothering him for the last few days. He then realised that the person who blessed him was a not an ordinary person but a great saint and wanted to get his blessing. He put the clock back and requested Swamiji for his Blessing so that he should do very well in his profession. Every around was shocked, the thief wanted to be successful in stealing! They all were eager to see what Swamiji would reply. 

Swamiji gave his usual charismatic and affectionate smile and told to the thief, “I am not going to bless you with what you asked for; however I will give you *2 Rupees. You eat something in 1.00 Rupee and in the other 1.00 rupee start something on your own and earn money in a righteous way”. After blessing him, he gave the money to the thief. He was enamored by Swamiji’s kindness and promised that he would start the business with that! 

A beautiful real-life incident which echoes the powerful force of Blessing. 

 Vethathiri Maharishi, through this incident, exemplifies that our life is filled with pleasant vibrations and the more we tune our mind to the subtleness of these vibrations around us, the more we become efficient in delving the secrets of nature. 

 A wave emanating from something has all the qualities of the object from which it originates. A wave originating from a rose, for instance, has the fragrance characteristic of that flower. In the same manner, any wave emanating from anything has distinct qualities of the same object - mechanical, chemical, magnetic, electrical and psychic.
